Ukrainian Folk Festival

cultural dance at Tryzub

Thursday Community Awareness Post:

Founded in Philadelphia in 1949, the Ukrainian American Sport Center (“UASC” or “Tryzub”, as it is known in Ukrainian) consists of over 600 ethnically and culturally diverse member families and is dedicated exclusively to charitable work: sport, youth and adult development, charitable and humanitarian activities, fraternity, society, and cultural, artistic and ethnic heritage pursuits. UASC is home to the Ukrainian Nationals soccer club, which has a sports program consisting of nearly 40 youth soccer teams, a soccer academy to accommodate all youngsters, a men’s and a women’s U.S. Amateur Soccer Association Majors Division team, a swim club, an archery team and a golf club. UASC also fosters and promotes the growth of folk art forms and other ethnic cultural traditions by regularly organizing and supporting Ukrainian folk and cultural programming both on its facilities and throughout the community with a particular emphasis on ethnic folk art, dance, music, song and cultural pursuits.

UKRFCU Members are invited to attend the Twenty-Eighth Annual Ukrainian Festival on Sunday, August 25th at 12:00 PM located at the Truzyb Ukrainian American Sport Center, 1 Lower State Road, North Wales, PA 19454. The performers (Voloshky and Iskra Ukrainian Dance Ensembles, violinist Innesa, Vox Ethnika orchestra, and Ariana Lem Joy Trip) have created a dynamic, integrated program. This year’s special guest performer is Korinya Ukrainian Folk Band. A Ukrainian social dance (zabava) to the tunes of Vox Ethnika will follow the concert. Ukrainian ethnic foods and baked goods, a BBQ and cool refreshments will be plentiful.

We are a proud supporter of Tryzub. For more information, please click here.
