USFCU response to Target news reports

Dear USFCU Members,
The Target Corporation has confirmed that news reports about a potential breach of credit and debit card data at Target stores may have affected as many as 40 million shoppers who made purchases in-store between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15, 2013.
If you shopped in-store (not online) at Target during this period, you should monitor your account activity closely and call the credit union (215.725.4430 Main Office) if you suspect fraudulent activity.
Target has added information on their website to specifically address concerns from their customers who may have been affected by the data breach that occurred in their U.S. stores between November 27th and December 15th – Please click here for Target's statement.
In addition to the breach itself, we have learned that phishing e-mails are being sent out that appear to be from Target. These e-mails play on the fears of the public that they may have had their card compromised. We advise you to proceed with caution if you receive an email from Target. It is best not to open any links that may be included is these emails.
